COVID VACCINE PLANNING & PRECAUTIONS DURING THIS TIME

It is a current update that we do have an FDA and CDC approved COVID-19 prevention vaccine in the United States (COVID-19). Since the outbreak started the federal government is working through Operation Warp Speedexternal icon to make one or more COVID-19 vaccinations available as soon as possible. While the CDC (Centers for Disease Control & Prevention) has no role to play in the development of the COVID-19 vaccine, but the CDC has partnered closely with health departments and their collaborators to develop vaccine services that have access to everyone in the USA. The CDC focuses on adaptive COVID-19 vaccination services for collaborators at all levels, including healthcare agencies, who will embrace a range of vaccinations and conditions.

The Operation Warp Speedexternal icon aims to deliver vaccines that are safe and reliable, with the first available by the end of 2020. Over time, the frequency will rise and all adults should be in a condition to vaccinate over time by 2021 meanwhile they emphasize that we should be careful protecting in this period by taking basic precautions.

The CDC remained in coordination with partners across the USA to ensure that individuals have all the relevant information; they need to be confident about taking the vaccine. Equally important is the fast availability of COVID-19 vaccines. To ensure that patients have easy access to the COVID-19 vaccine and that expense is not a deterrent, the CDC works with public health, health care professionals, and other stakeholders.

Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine:

United Kingdom has approved the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use.

It is the world's first COVID-19 vaccine which is made by the American Pharmaceutical company Pfizer and Germany's BioNTech to complete a robust and developmental vaccine. Without waiting for the findings from the large studies known as Phase 3 trials, the UK has approved COVID-19 Vaccine.

Medicine and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) of the United Kingdom said it had used a rolling analysis to research Pfizer's knowledge during the trial. In the short term, the protocol required the department to approve the vaccine.

The approval came just 12 days after Pfizer and BioNTech called on regulatory authorities around the world to use emergency services. Compared to COVID-19, the final findings of a major Phase 3 analysis showed that the vaccine would be 95 percent successful.

USA planning:

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) met to consider Pfizer's proposal for emergency use. Speaking on a U.S. television news program Good Morning America, Dr. Moncef Slaoui said "The FDA has reached the same conclusion" that British officials have reached. In other words, he is now hopeful that the vaccine is going to be launched and available in near future.

Precautions while waiting for COVID Vaccine:

So it is expected that to fight this pandemic, Vaccine is going to be available for everyone in near future. Until that time, CDC, FDA, and healthcare providers have emphasized that we should take all the precautionary measures to protect ourselves from this deadly pandemic by:

  • Use face masks. simple or N95, whenever you go outside or in public places.
  • Always keep hand sanitizer or antiseptic wipes with you. Use them frequently to keep your hands clean.
  • Use good quality gloves while touching objects in a public area, discard the gloves after one time use.
  • It is better to stay at least 6 feet away from others, you can use face shields in public gatherings to protect your face from airborne infection.
